Mothers seek to restore families through the power of prayer
An international movement of mothers centred on Marian devotion and united in a mission to intercede for their families is quietly growing in Australia.
We are 'Mothers who Pray for their Children', a Catholic movement with Marian devotion. Our Lady of La Salette is the Patroness and Saint Monica the co-patroness. Originally from Brazil, our foundress Angela Abdo was called to pray along with other mothers who desired to pray and intercede for their children. Our mission is to establish networks of mothers who come together in the Church to pray and be formed in their faith. Brazil already has over 70,000 members, with Australia being the first English speaking country to adapt the movements resources. With already 7 groups and more being established in the country, we have been able to extend the movements reach to France, Germany, many countries in Latin America, the USA, Angola, Portugal and South Africa. With the help of our members and their talents, the movement has continued to grow.
"For where two or three meet in my name, I am there among them." (Matthew 18, 20)
We, Mothers Who Pray for Their Children are a community of mothers, grandmothers, aunts, godmothers and spiritual mothers, who come together to pray for our children, no matter how old they may be, or whatever the circumstance.
"Restoration of families by the power of prayer" is our motto, and we are guided in this journey by our patroness; Our Lady of La Salette and co-patroness; Saint Monica.

Did you know that we also have an online study group?
We get together on Google Meet every Wednesday at 8pm AEST, to study and discuss a chapter of a book. The person chosen to lead discussions is selected manually from a "Cambuca," which is a clay pot commonly used in Brazil filled with everyone's name. No one knows whose name will be called out, so it is important to have read the chapter and prepared your notes. It is such a fun and enlightening way to learn with your sisters in Christ from all over the world.
